I wrote IDENTITY LAG because I’m done watching brilliant, capable people undersell themselves not because the proof isn’t there, but because their identity hasn’t caught up with what they’ve built.
We’ve been calling it imposter syndrome.
But what if there’s another explanation? What if you’re not doubting whether you’re capable? What if your identity simply hasn’t caught up with the evidence of who you’ve already become?
This is Identity Lag. And I’m inviting 100 people to be there from the beginning.

Here’s what nobody tells you when you hit the number, land the title, build the business or become the person you spent years working towards: Your results can change faster than your identity does.
So you keep operating like the smaller version of you.
Underselling. Overexplaining. Hesitating in rooms you’ve already earned your place in. Waiting to “feel ready” for a level you’re already standing on.
We often call this imposter syndrome. But I think there’s a difference.
Imposter syndrome says: “I don’t belong here.”
Identity Lag says: “I do belong here. I just haven’t caught up with the person who does.”
That distinction matters. Because they’re not the same problem, and they don’t require the same solution.
Identity Lag is about recognising the gap between who you’ve become, how you see yourself and how the world sees you and learning how to close it.

WHY I'M WRITING IT
I know Identity Lag because I’ve lived it.
I’ve changed careers, built businesses, sold one, written books, stepped onto stages, and repeatedly discovered that external success doesn’t automatically update the way you see yourself.
Or the way the world sees you.
And through my work with high-achieving founders, executives and experts, I kept seeing versions of the same gap.
People with the results, experience and credibility to prove what they were capable of are...

So I decided to write it.
